Unaccounted For (2023)

Reno 48 Hour Film Project

A Film in 48 Hours…

Make a film in 48 hours. That’s the challenge set forth by the 48 Hour Film Project. This year, as an exercise and for the challenge, we fielded a team comprised of our Partners, Employees, Contractors, and Collaborators and submitted a (now) award-winning short film.

Friday, September 22nd, at 7:00 p.m. we randomly drew a genre (Sci-Fi), and were assigned a character, line of dialogue, and a prop. Sunday, September 24th, at 7:00 p.m. we uploaded our film, Unaccounted For.

“Why invest so much time and money into this?”

That’s an excellent question. Short answer: Because we can and we had fun.

Long answer: We don’t want to live in a vacuum; Film - cinema - is storytelling at its core, and creating a short film in 48 hours pushes us to be better storytellers. Good video quality, good music, everything like that doesn’t matter if we can’t effectively tell a story. Forcing ourselves to be creative in such a short time period with the constraints of the competition shows us how far we can go.

To over simplify it: Exercises like the 48 Hour Film Project help us grow as film professionals and as storytellers, and we apply the lessons learned to our business and our practice. These are lessons that help us not only do our jobs better, but more efficiently which can lead to higher quality work and cost-savings for clients.

Awards

On October 15th, 2023 Unaccounted For was awarded Best Use of Prop (Guitar) and the Audience Choice awards. We are so incredibly thankful for this experience and proud of the work we did, and we are so proud to represent the film industry right here in Northern Nevada.
